Together with 19 other companies from the districts of Munich and Ebersberg, Aeris joined forces in May 2022 to form the alliance "DIE KLIMANEUTRALEN". Aeris' commitment to climate protection includes a reduction plan to continuously reduce the emission of climate-damaging greenhouse gases until 2030.
"Without a doubt, becoming climate neutral as a company within eight years is an ambitious goal. But it can be done, especially if you can work with others to achieve it. Aeris has always paid great attention to people's quality of life. Not only in the development of our products, but also actively in protecting the environment. As early as 1982, for example, I was involved in the construction of the first 16 photovoltaic plants in Europe on behalf of the EU," says Aeris CEO Josef Glöckl, adding, "That's why we're very pleased to be a founding member of Climate Neutrals and to contribute to climate protection as a company."
Ebersberg-Munich energy agency supports with targeted measures
The regional business alliance was initiated by the Ebersberg-Munich Energy Agency. This supports the companies with targeted measures on their way to climate neutrality. "In this way, we want to create an effective and directly comprehensible offer for companies to accompany them on their way to climate-friendly business practices," says Munich District Administrator Christoph Göbel. A look at the figures shows how important the environmental commitment of Aeris and the other companies in the region is: In the Munich district, industry and commerce are responsible for 42 percent of CO2 emissions. In the district of Ebersberg, the figure is 34 percent.
To ensure that companies achieve the goal they have set themselves, the Ebersberg-Munich Energy Agency first focuses on energy efficiency and potential savings. Only when all technical and structural measures within the company have been exhausted can the remaining residual emissions be offset. "The alliance puts almost everything in the companies to the test: from the sourcing of energy sources, to employee commuting, to the vehicle fleet. If the measures recommended by the energy agency are implemented consistently, a large amount of greenhouse gases can be saved, effectively protecting the climate," says Robert Niedergesäss, District Administrator of the Ebersberg district.
We want to live up to our corporate social responsibility

For Aeris, too, the Ebersberg-Munich Climate Agency first draws up a climate balance sheet. Then the experts draw up a detailed reduction plan with precise measures for the annual reduction of climate-damaging greenhouse gases. Josef Glöckl: "I think we are already on the right track at Aeris with some of the measures we have taken. However, as a member of the climate neutrals, we can exploit our potential even better and thus live up to our social responsibility as a company."
